Major VoIP Switch Upgrade to be completed on January 14, 2010

emailed to VoIP clients January 7, 2010

On Thursday, January 14, 2010, starting at 12:01 AM EST, Crocker Technicians will be working to complete a major upgrade on our VoIP switch that was initiated on January 7, 2010.

While the technicians are working, VoIP phone services may be unavailable for a maximum of two hours. We appreciate your patience, as the project has taken longer than we originally anticipated. Please understand that this is a major upgrade of software and hardware, necessary in order to maintain reliable service. We apologize for any inconvenience the interruption may cause.

At the conclusion of the upgrade, an updated configuration may be sent to your VoIP phones and cause them to reboot. Your VoIP phones should resume normal functions without any action on your part.

If you have any questions now, or if you experience any problems with your VoIP phones at the start of business on Thursday morning, please contact our Client Support Department for assistance.

Please Read about Port Blocking

Posted September 24, 2009

Many of our clients have recently reported problems sending email when using a Verizon Internet connection. This is because Verizon began implementing outbound port 25 blocking earlier this year in an attempt to reduce and eliminate the spam email generated using their servers.  If you’re not using a @verizon.net email address you can’t use port 25.

You have two options for working around the port block:

  1. Change your email client to send email using port 587. For immediate step-by-step instructions, visit Change to port 587 now.
  2. Or use Crocker Webmail or Crocker Hosting Webmail. Web based email is unaffected by port 25 blocking.

For more information, check out Verizon ’s notice titled “Your Attention Needed: Re-configure Your Email Settings to Send Email”
